The history about Irawan

The word “Irawan” means “lamp” in Filipino language literally, indigenous tribes lighted up fire on the bamboo during the nights in IrawanForest, that is the original use since colonised period by Japan. There are tribes still existing on the site, you can see they still use traditional bamboo made houses and living styles on the site, also fortunately we have the cooperation between Irawan Eco Park and environmental protection of Irawan watershed by government, which maintain a wonderful and clean source of water use in Puerto Princesa City, this river is also essential for local tribes’ water use for drinking, laundry by hands and leisure life.

The wise environmental protection also has stoped mining and logging of trees happening in Irawan, becuase of the sustrainable concern, organic vegetable and solar power have been used in the Irawan Eco Park, we invite all the visitors worldwide to understand our land and story by our local tour guides.
